Last February 4, 2022, Coastal Cities at Risk in the Philippines and the National Resilience Council, in partnership with Ateneo de Manila University’s School of Social Sciences and the Department of Sociology and Anthropology, as well as Arete’s Urban Resilience Laboratory, hosted a lecture entitled The Good University. The Keynote Speaker was Dr. Raewyn Connell, Professor Emerita of the University of Sydney. Providing messages were Dr. Emma Porio, Project Leader and Principal Investigator of CCARPH, Dr. Czarina Akpedonu, Dean of the School of Social Sciences (ADMU) and Ms. Antonia Yulo-Loyzaga, Co-Principal Investigator of CCARPH.
Also on hand to provide their reactions was a distinguished panel composed of heads of universities in the Philippines: Dr. Ma. Cynthia Rose Banzon Bautista (Vice-President for Academic Affairs, University of the Philippines System), Dr. Fabian Dayrit, RCh (Board of Trustees, ADMU; Academician, National Academy of Science and Technology), Fr. Robert Rivera, SJ (President, Ateneo de Naga University), Dr. Edgardo Tulin (President, Visayas State University), and Dr. Clement Castigador Camposano (Chancellor, University of the Philippines Visayas).
